There is trouble within the Aam Aadmi Party with two of its prominent members Captain Gopinath and Shazia Ilmi having resigned from the party.
Shazia blamed lack of internal democracy within the party as the reason behind her resignation. "There is no internal democracy in the party. AAP did not follow swaraj in the party itself. There is no collective decision making in the party," Ilmi said questioning if it was enough to blame certain politicians and corporate houses for corruption.
However she also added that AAP had done a lot for the country. "I has resigned from AAP as I believe that AAP could have done a lot and did a lot to change the political discourse in the country. AAP has done a lot of mistakes as well and should be excused for it as it is a new party," she said.
Captain Gopinath, too, said that while he had respect for AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal but he considered the AAP leader's recent actions as disappointing. "I have had many differences and I have already written about it. I have a lot of respect for Arvind Kejriwal. But the actions of the last few days when he did not seek bail were disappointing and I have decided to leave the party," said Gopinath.
Earlier in the day, AAP leader Somnath Bharti had met Shazia and tried to convince her to remain a part of the party.
