What if you can see the virtual world through someone else's eyes? Possible. Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have launched a new app designed to let people assume the virtual life of another for 20 days. The app uses services such as Google Maps to give strangers a feeling that they are walking in the virtual steps of a person. "We started by thinking, could we make some piece of software that allows you to be connected to strangers in a way that produced empathy instead of suspicion, contempt or disdain?" Kevin Slavin, director of MIT Media Lab's Playful Systems research group, was quoted as saying. The Panasonic P81 is company’s first octa-core priced at Rs 18,990. The device is now available for Rs 17,999  via  Snapdeal. The online retailer promises to ship the device in two business days. The P81 poses a sleek at 7.9mm profile and follows the phablet trend with a 5.5-inch IPS display with 720p resolution. Microsoft has officially launched its first Lumia phone since acquiring the lineup. In a presentation on Monday in Bangalore, Microsoft's Nokia India division announced the availability of the Lumia 630, the first dual-SIM Windows Phone. Launching in India initially, the dual-SIM version will sell for 11,500 rupees ($192). The actual availability date is a question mark. The Times of India pegs the date as May 16, while International Business Times and other sources say it will reach stores starting May 14. CNET contacted Microsoft to pin down a specific date. Whenever it actually reaches consumers, the Lumia 630 will benefit from the new features in Windows Phone 8.1, including the Cortana voice assistant and a long-awaited notification center.  A Brazilian retailer has now put up pictures of the upcoming Motorola Moto E. From the looks of it, it’s going to be very similar in design and feel to the Moto G and will also come in multi-colour shells that will be interchangeable. The specifications are also as good as official. According to the retailer, the Moto E will sport a 4.3-inch display, 3G, 5MP rear shooter, 1GB RAM, dual-core Qualcomm chipset andwill run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. Apple Inc is working on a smaller and less expensive version of the iPhone , Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing sources. The prototype device is about one-third smaller than the iPhone 4, the report said, citing a person who had seen it. Apple has considered selling the new iPhone for $200 without a two-year wireless contract, Bloomberg reported. Apple is aiming to unveil the device around the middle of this year, but the launch may be delayed or canceled altogether, the report said. Apple did not respond to a request for comment. The company often develops products it never brings to market. According to the report, Apple is also working on a dual-mode phone that would be able to work with the world's two main wireless standards. AT&T, which carries the iPhone on its wireless network in the United States, declined to comment. Verizon Wireless, which also carries the device, could not be reached for comment. LG has announced its new smartphone contender: the LG Optimus Black, running Android 2.2 and taking the ‘thinnest smartphone in the world’ crown from Apple. The new phone will come with a 4-ionch NOVA display, which LG is claiming can offer superb performance in direct sunlight as well as allowing a ridiculously thin chassis, coming in at 9.2mm thick. The new display is apparently 50% less power-draining than the OLED screens used on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S, which LG claims will help push smartphones past the standard one day capability of modern smartphones.
