Fake Filmfare Awards

Now that winners' list is really something else. Especially SRK's award for the Best Actor for My Name is Khan. Eh? What about Omkar Das Manikpuri (Natha of Peepli Live). Oh wait. He wasn't even nominated though Peepli Live made it to the nominations for Best Film. Of course India's entry to the Oscars was completely snubbed at Filmfare, like Inception at the Golden Globes (take heart Anusha Rizvi, it happens to the best). What about Salman Khan? Dabangg is Salman and Salman is Dabangg. If Dabangg is Best Film, how can Salman be overlooked? Udaan, Dabangg, Ishqiya were better films then MINK. But they had a huge flaw - Karan Johar didn't make them. So there. No Filmfare for you. As for Kajol winning Best Actress, I can only say I am glad Aishwarya didn't win it. Awards can sometimes be Montezuma's revenge for those of us who watch films without bias. Whole List : Best Actress:  Kajol for 'My Name is Khan' Best Film:  Arbaaz Khan and  Ma

Hrithik Roshan Wax Statue At Madame Tussauds Stills

Hrithik Roshan has become the fifth Bollywood celebrity to have his wax figure at the prestigious Madame Tussauds.’I never thought in my wildest of dreams that there will be a time in my life when I’ll be unveiling my own statue at the Madame Tussauds,’ he said.’I remember once I’ve stood there in the line for three hours when I was a 12-year-old to see the museum,’ Hrithik said. Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Bachchan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have already secured their place in the London museum.’It’s just going to be symbolic of my journey. It’s going to be something that will motivate me when I’m tired,’ said the actor. ’I’ll think of this statue and it will make be keep going and giving my best. It makes me feel great and will help me fight my exhaustion.’

Dhobi Ghat Movie Review

Rating: 2.5/5 The trailer of Aamir Khan Productions' DELHI BELLY which precedes DHOBI GHAT, has Amitabh Bachchan in his baritone speaking about how, right from LAGAAN, the production house has been coming up with different and meaningful cinema. There are no two ways about that. Be it LAGAAN, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, JAANE TU YA JAANE NA or PEEPLI LIVE, all were very different from each other, and were able to connect with the audience. The stint of making different films surely continues with DHOBI GHAT. A amir Khan had made it very clear in his interviews that the film is far from a typical Bollywood entertainer. He was even skeptical if people would like such a film. After watching the film, we surely concur! The film traces the lives of four individuals living in the vibrant city of Mumbai. Shai (Monica Dogra), an investment banker on a sabbatical meets artist Arun (Aamir Khan) in his exhibition and the two get involved in a one-night stand. The next morning, Arun has guilt p

AGENT VINOD Is in trouble

Ruhail Amin, Glamsham Editorial Saif's happy-go-lucky period has ended. There's trouble brewing in Saif's paradise. His competitor's are dedicated to give him sleepless nights. According to reliable sources, Saif's dream project AGENT VINOD, for which the actor has gone out of his way to make it one of the biggest films in bollywood, is facing a possibility of losing its plot before its release. The reason: Another film titled AGENT K, that has the tennis ace Leander Paes in the lead and shares almost similar plot like AGENT VINOD, might hit the screens earlier. This fact might ring alarm bells for Saif, who is literally leaving no stone unturned to make AGENT VINOD a big success. On the other hand, the fact that the film is yet to be wrapped is adding to the problem. According to industry insiders, the shooting of AGENT VINOD will take almost three months more to reach the completion stage. Saif and Kareena's second outing is facing the jinx again. Earlier, t

Yusuf shines as India win thriller

Yusuf Pathan swung the game India's way with three brutal shots and Harbhajan Singh sealed the win with two violent game-breaking hits. Morne Morkel had threatened to derail India's chase with an inspired performance but it was India who held their nerve, and took a 2-1 lead in the series. India were 104 runs adrift of the target when Yusuf cemented his World Cup spot by biffing Johan Botha for three sixes in an over to push India ahead. When he fell, 39 runs short of the target, Harbhajan crashed Wayne Parnell and Morne for stunning sixes at vital moments of the chase to clinch the game, with 10 balls to spare. India had lost five wickets and looked down for the count on a sluggish pitch where stroke-making wasn't easy when Yusuf launched a violent assault on Botha. He muscled three sixes, the last of which flew out of the stadium, to loot 19 runs in the 30th over. Yusuf added 75 runs with Suresh Raina, who threw his wicket away with a wild shot in the 37th over, before f

Team India For World Cup 2011

T he exclusion of middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma was the surprise in India's 15-man World Cup squad announced in Chennai. The other bone of contention had been the second specialist spinner's slot, and the selectors have picked both offspinner R Ashwin and legspinner Piyush Chawla, ahead of left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha. Most of the other names in the squad were along expected lines. India's major concern ahead of the team selection was the injuries to four first-choice players - Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and quick bowler Praveen Kumar - but the selectors picked all four, confident that they will be fit in time for the tournament which starts on February 19. India's bowling attack for the World Cup will be significantly different from their standard Test attack, with only Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh being named. The fast bowling pair of Sreesanth and Ishant Sharma, and Ojha are all excluded while Munaf Patel, who helped Ind

Yamla Pagla Deewana: Movie Review

Yamla Pagla Deewana is, more or less, modeled on Bollywood's age-old lost-and-found formula where a son is separated from his father in childhood. But for a pleasant change, the father and son do not have to wait till the climax and rather reunite within the first 15 minutes of the film. After that they remain together in almost every other frame of the film and (joined by the younger son) share great combined chemistry. The film starts in a Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum mode though with a 'disjoint' family setting. Canada based Paramveer (Sunny Deol) is estranged from his father Dharam (Dharmendra) and brother Gajodhar (Bobby Deol). When he gets a cue that they are in India, the banker comes on an extended break to Banaras in their pursuit ala SRK of Main Hoon Na . Without beating around the bush for a split second, the first person he meets in his motherland is his father and brother. While one doesn't mind the convenient and coincidental reunion as it gives way for ear

Anushka spit on Akshay!

Anushka Sharma seems to be in the happiest phase of her life. The pretty lady is quite satisfied with the way her filmy career and personal life are shaping up. Anushka who started her Bollywood journey with King Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, didn’t leave that great an impression on the audience in Badmaash Company with Shahid Kapoor . But her last film, Band Baaja Baaraat covered up for all the complaints and past failures and turned out to be the best out of all the films that she has done so far. Anushka who has just completed her film Patiala House with Akshay Kumar is waiting for its release in February. The actress had a great time shooting with the one and only Khiladi, but also admits to have been quite nervous on her first day. She says, “Working with Akshay Kumar was a dream come true experience. But the first day I reached the shoot, we had a scene where I was told to spit on his face. It was my first day and I was anyway quite nervous and he (Akshay) kept saying ‘thook thoo

Who will be the new IPL captains?

As the IPL auctions for 2011 come to an end, we cast a glance on the new line-ups, possible captaincy options, team spend and players retained. Some quick thoughts: Defending champs Chennai have retained an astonishing number of players,  10  11. The next best are Mumbai and Rajasthan with four. There’s lots of noise about fans boycotting KKR at the Eden. They’ve got to realise Ganguly wasn’t a KKR problem; the other nine teams didn’t consider him either. It’s clear there’s a non-cricketing reason behind Ganguly’s removal. He was the fourth highest run-maker in IPL 2010. On a whole, it is sad Ganguly waited to be shown the door. It’s a lesson for Dravid and Laxman. Kumble played it smarter, withdrawing at the last minute from the auctions. Lara’s exclusion wasn’t surprising either. He’s in no fitness for this level of cricket and seemed like he was only in it for the money. The ten teams showed him place, and rightly so. Delhi, one of the most consistent teams in the IPL, will have a
